I have a couple blackish dark gray rocks that are magnetic , meaning they stick to a magnet . there about the size and shape of regular 1 inch rock that you would use for fill before you put down concrete or like a gravel drive way except their dark in color. help me with any info as to what these are. did I find something valuable or is this common? thanx for any words of wisdom.

I'd like to add that there not super magnetic like a peice of steel but if you touch the magnet to them they will hold on.

Magnetite. Very common rock. Makes up very much of the black sand found while panning for gold. I had a detectorist bring one to me while gold hunting. A quartz rock with a vien. He thought he had gold. I put a magnet to the rock and burst his bubble. The rock stuck to the magnet, indicating the vien was magnetite. Very common "hot rock". Sorry. TTC
