Magicians coins

Buff,

Have you tried putting a coin into a jar, quart mayonaise, something like that and shaking it around? Sometimes that hits it just right so it will pop open. This works some of the time, but I still have some that have circulated so much they are dinged on the edge and will not open.

Have you found both types of magicians coins? One has the foreign coin on the inside and the other has the quarter and the dime inside.

I dont know anyone that collects them. I keep them because I find them and they are different. Sometimes if I like a teller I will show them one and if they really show an interest give it to them as a good will token.

Thousands of $$ in halves I've hunted in the last year, have not found a one. That I know of! FFD

i have put them in jars and shaken, and even broke a jar once. I also heard about putting them in boiling water, tried that, no luck. Also tried the freeze, no luck there too. one thing i have not tried is putting the outter side on a flame and letting that expand and popping out the inserted part.

I don't collect them but if I was to find one I would keep it. I'd say keep the niceest ones for yourself and give your kids the worse one and the ones that wont open just send back to circulation.

over the past year i found 6 of them. they do not open two of them are only half of the coin i keep them just to show people HH thegman

I would love to see some pictures of them both opened and closed. I've yet to find one (that I've noticed?) and am kinda curious to know how different they look than a normal coin.

Those are definitely neat, I can't wait till i find one. Are you able to see a gap around the back when it is closed? I guess I'm trying to figure out any tell-tail signs of them because I may have just skimmed over some and turned them back in :)

I put a tiny note with an e-mail address that I use only for this purpose and only check from library computers. I'ts quite interesting to see the replies you get from people.

Kinda like the old message in th bottle game.
