Basically a USA Friend of the Family was visiting before flying back to the US tomorrow morning. We had 30 minutes hunting time spare before they went out for a meal. The challenge was on, could we get him over a Roman coin on his first attempt of using a detector!
After 20 minutes in the best area, I had 6 roman Coins but our US friend had none. It was time to head towards the car. As luck would have it, he found one halfway back to the car. You should have seen his smile. Turned out to be the best coin of the day & a reverse type we have never had! His first coin with a detector was a Claudius II Gothicus AD268-70. (funny enough, I think this Emperor was Shaun7 first one)
I picked up a couple of pieces of Roman Pottery to take with him as well.
I'm sure he will treasure it & the buzz of digging it!
