I've been seeing videos of guys using plastic grain shovels on the beach with modified shapes and lots of holes. Thought it was a great idea, but the $80 price tag seemed a bit much. So I took apart my emergency snow shovel, reshaped it and drilled some holes, and attachd a wooden handle with a wood peg. It works great didn't cost very much! I can't wait for our beach vacation this summer!

I wasn't sure if this shovel would work well in the packed wet sand on an ocean beach. Just back from the outer banks and I'm happy to say it worked great. It was stiff enough that it didn't bend in the heavy wet stuff. I will be adding a D handle, then put it in the rafters till the next beach vacation!
