Hello and thanks for looking. I recently received a Grubsteak sluice and was wondering what the angle should be. The creek we are in is fairly deep and flat, mid shin to kneecap. I've been running it with the flared portion flat allowing the riffled portion to drop down into the water column. Is this correct? Its working fine, I'm getting 4 to 8 small flecks per 1/2 bucket. About 2hr. "Work". Just wanted to double check with you guys to see if the setup sounded right.

They have the best angle built in with the flare being level and its best to have the end out of the water so it doesn't slow the flow of the water coming out. If your creek is flat you might need to build it up some with some rocks to raise the water level enough to allow the end to be just above the water. You might catch some your losing if you get the end just above the water and you can always set your gold pan at the end of the sluice to see if your losing any gold when running material through it.

I think I get what your saying. Not to let the bottom of the sluice sit under water. Ill try it again to see what I can finagle. Had 5he cub scout troop out there yesterday and the kids loved it! Good times.

Glad to hear you're passing on great outdoor experiences with the next generation. :-)
