M6 coil question

Picked up a M6 last spring, and ever since, its been awesome for when I hit school yards, or parks, or any open area. Already found a few silver coins my old detector missed. However, where I seem to be having some trouble is when I head to some older sites. These older sites are in the woods, with underbrush and trees and bushes etc; detecting through that, I hear a large amount of chatter, and rarely can I find a suitable signal to dig; whats more, most of the time it's iron. Both are over 100 yrs old, both saw alot of traffic (a church site, and an old tavern). Yet ive found no coins at the church, and only one at the tavern (using my father's Compass Judge II). I began reading some reviews on the M6, and supposedly it should be doing well in this type of situation. Would buying a new coil help any, and if so, which ones should I be looking at?

I guess the tldr version is: for coin shooting at old overgrown sites, would switching out the stock coil help with relic/coin recovery? And if so, which coils should i look at?

To answer your question- Yes!! A smaller coil makes a huge difference in trashy areas. I recently picked up a 6" excelerator coil for my m6 and it is a killer in the trash. I have found its target separation is superb(being a DD coil) and depth is on par with the stock 950 eclipse coil. I still use my 950 coil in larger areas where swinging the liitle coil is silly. You won't be dissappointed using a small coil, you have to have the right toll for the job!!!!

I use a 6 X 10 Eclipse DD that does a good job in the brush without compromising depth. However in the really thick stuff a 4 X 6 DD would be easier to maneuver.

Thanks for the advice ^^ decided to go with a 6x10 eclipse DD, as that was suggested here, and alot of people suggested it over in the MXT coil upgrade post =) We'll see how it works out; i'm keeping my eye on that little 4x6. I have a feeling it'd do well in those sites but... /shrug; only have enough for one of them right now

I use my M6 almost exclusively on land, and I mostly hit wooded areas. It is the best machine I can imagine in the woods, and I'm hitting some trashy woods at times. I've never used any coil other than the stock. The stock, at least in my neck of the woods, goes pretty deep. I have found more with the M6 than I ever had with the Ace 250. I hunt with guys who use E-Traks abd Se's and our finds are always comparable.

On turf, it's almost as good...but the M6 is a wizard in the woods. Try lowering your sensitivity if you're still getting a lot of chatter with the new coil.
