It's the brass drop (keyhole cover) from a padlock. The M W & Co. mark is that of Mallory, Wheeler & Company of New Haven, Connecticut. c. 1865-1910, the largest manufacturer of padlocks during that era.

Not sure about the "different logo," but I'm guessing you're referring to this old avatar:
