M-scope 1280x?

Is this an earlier version of the aquanaut 1280x? Is it a VLF or PI? I can't really find anything on it, and it is not listed on Fishers website. Thanks!

M-Scope & the Aquanaut are the same detector m-scope is the earlier one........& yes they are VLF...Fishers is the oldest metal detector manufacture.............. started by Gerhard Fisher in the early 1930's...........Dr.Gerhard Fisher designed the first metal detector......... Which he named the ... Metallascope ... I guess M-Scope is short for Metallascope.........

Just don't believe the hype about Fisher inventing the metal detector. Lots around years before. There's even a picture from a British newspaper on the web showing a test between British and French detectors in 1918 to find out which was best for locating mines.

Even Minelab didn't develop the first multifrequency metal detector it was a U.S. company (think it was Westinghouse). Minelabs part was to put the idea into a hand held hobby machine.

well, I got one. Not impressed with the depth on air tests. Can't barely pick up hardly anything unless it is four inches away. and that's with disc off and sens all the way up. Still, it's better than no waterproof detector at all. Planning on taking it out as soon as I get some waders and seeing how it does on the beach. At least this coming summer I'll be able to go underwater again.

I am completely uninterested in who claims to have invented what. (ever read the truth about Edison?) I just want something that works, lol.

The Fisher hype is supposed to make you think that if they were first they have had years to improve things.

As it is your detector is nowhere near the performance it should give. Something is wrong somewhere. Its not really intended for wet salt beaches but your testing in air and the results are bad. Its not like say a Sovereign which will not air test well.

That's good, as I am hundreds of miles away from any saltwater. I don't know what's going on with it, I don't seem to have any luck with used detectors.

I've had three 1280's at one time and had no trouble with them at all. I was able to use them at some saltwater beaches where the black sand and salt concentrations were not to bad, but they are more of a freshwater detector. Something is wrong with your 1280 and you should send it in to Fisher as they will give you excellent service.

My 1280X did better in fresh water than in salt water.
