Like most part time CRHers out there, we coin roll hunt when we can, for me personally lunch time is the best time to try and CRH..My lunch consist of an around 20 minutes of calling and then maybe 10 minutes to eat and 30 min to going to banks close to my office asking for coins and such..But I repeat, lunch time lately is THE WORST time to CRH. When you call a teller they will say "oh yeah we have X amount of halves", you get there all smiles and to figure out that the head vault manager is GONE = instant frowns!..Sure I can score a box of pennies and sometimes a box of dimes/nickels but lately it never fails lol, "can you come back later, the main vault teller is out to lunch" or "that teller is out to lunch and i don't have access to her drawer"..I get it, the main vault teller has seniority and probably gets to go to lunch before the regular tellers and the tellers aren't allowed to go into other teller drawers due to security..Moral to the story is I think I need to pick a new lunch time maybe 11am instead of 12 on the dot or even 1 or 2pm..hmm:icon_scratch:..What is your favorite time/best successful time hunting?

On the other hand, lunch time is great for getting silver from cherry picking tellers who leave it in their tray...

Lunch time is usually the only time to hunt during the week if you work full time. Most of the banks around my work are busy due to other customers who need to bank during their free time as well. Therefore there is never a good time to hunt. :)

I am very fortunate that my hours vary quite a bit and I am left with plenty of free time during normal banking hours. Although this week I can't make any pick ups till Thursday because of overtime.

Hunt when you can...thats about all you can do. Lunch time, and Fridays (payday for many) near closing time are the worst times though.

So yesterday I called one bank in which i have no account of and the teller said that she had 110 dollars worth of halves. I said great, she then proceeded to ask me if i had an account, in which i was honest and said no i dont, from there she said she is going to have to see if thats still okay and she will call me back as soon as she finds out. Didn't get a call till just now by the vault manager, he said that i'm able to buy 50 dollars worth?? Is this a standard banking rule if someone doesn't have an account to not let them take all 110 lol? What gives? I think I will obviously buy them but still what the heck..She also mentioned they were "loose".

50 dollars worth of clad and btw they did come in rolls..the teller mentioned "they aren't from the fed but I hand counted them for accuracy" lol which may have meant she took out the silvers but in any case you gotta go to itch the curiosity. Keeeep on keeepin on!

After you hung up you could have just gone there and asked for halves. No, I didn't call, I just stopped in looking for halves. Ill take all you've got. Sometimes tellers can be conflicted between bank rules( no account, no coin ), and the very strong, almost universal desire they have to get rid of those nasty, stupid halves that they have to count every day.

Chase bank did that to me the other day. It is about the only bank in my area that cares about the whole account mess unless you want to order from them.

I know what you mean. I have found the best time to CRH is to beat the little old lady that hits all the banks before me.I always get " sorry the little old lady just beat you" She has no set schedule and always hit the loose halfs at about 5 banks and some of my boxes at my pick up bank.I would try at 11 am. Good luck and i hope the teller dont change her schedule too.

Yeah some banks think they can reel you in by getting an account for some clad halves..best to sample the waters first lol..Good luck to you too Copper36 i hope you beat this old lady!
