Made it back to my new lunch site in the park woods. Spent most of my hour yesterday and today still trying to find the dot on the historical map (dozens of old shotgun ends), but made it to the Carriage House site for about 20 minutes each day. Basically reswinging the same small area.
Another harmonica reed, first metal comb, first iron button, really cool brooch(yes, I checked the hole for the stone, no luck) and a COIN!!! To me it looks like a holed 1867 V Nickel. Only second coin at this site, other was IHP. The hole was filled with a white cement like substance, like someone tried to repair it. I chipped it out as I like the holed look better.
Here is the deep hole with the brooch, thought it was some kind of ornate plate at first.
Here is how the Nickel came out of the ground.
I did the salt and vinegar process and I'm very happy with the results and now can see date, looks like a Nickel now.
Good luck out there!
