Luky Little Kid & Dad hit the front yard, AGAIN!

My daughter wanted to detect today when I got home from work. So we hit the front yard again. My yard is large approx. 3 acres of mowed grass. Out house was built in the mid 1800's. We have lived here 14 years and I have hunted the yard, my wife hunts the yard, my father-in-law, mother-in-law, and brother-in-law all hunt my yard on a regular basis. We had a quick 1/2 hour hunt after dinner. My daughter found the following: 1944 (bent), 1950 wheat cents, 1986 Memorial cent, and a modern looking military style button. I found another lead horse and rider (2ND one of these this week, my daughter found the first one), 1939 wheat cent, 1943 "P" Silver war nickel. The competition is getting fierce at our house! Dug out 20+ years of my metal detecting log books, time to take my daughter to some of the good old sites I have found!

I come on the site now just to see if you posted about your daughter.. I really enjoy seeing what she found.. it makes me smile everytime I SEE WHAT SHE has found... I'm not nearly as good as she is..maybe she can give me some tips?

Re: Luky Little Kid & Dad hit the front yard, AGAIN!

I've been studying her 6 year old technique lately, slow, even, steady swings. She digs every signal. She plays with her Tesoro Compadre 3 or 4 hours a day, she travels the lawn while my wife is outside gardening, and inserts survey flags in the ground at strong signals. We go and dig them up ever night, rain or shine, after working 12 hours or not. I wouldn't trade this time with her for any amount of $$$$$. One day she will outgrow me, and I will become a pain in the butt FATHER. For now I just enjoy being DAD! I don't bother showing you guys photos of the trash and other assorted farm relics we find. But to give you an idea of the amount of stuff we dig, I stopped at the local scrap metal recyclers last night on the way home $42.38 in scrap iron, aluminum, brass, copper and lead! I gave the money to my daughter, she asked if she could give it to the local library :icon_study:, so they could buy some new kids books! It must be that Kindergarten diploma talking, 'cause I sure hope she's not learning this stuff from me! :icon_king:
