Being that for the last three weeks I've only been able to hunt on Sundays I would say that 1 Gold, 2 Silver and wheat isn’t bad. That put me at 36 Gold finds for the year.

Here’s the story:
Started out about 8:00 A.M. and hunted until 12:00 P.M. or so. The first spot to hit was a playground, one that I try to keep clean. There I found my 3rd lucky shoe and a .925 Silver earring. Well the shoe actually looks like a pair of sandas,l or slippers, with rose gold flowers, no markings. My two previously found Gold lucky shoes are actually a shoe and a sandal. The last photo shown in the playground hunt set of photos shows all three together

Then I flipped a coin to decide on the next spot, and that pointed me to an oldie site that the locals have been hitting day and night. But this was the first time for me, what the heck they always leave something. This place hade lots of pull tabs and bottle caps. After isolating the only old exposed area I started to make a go for it. This old area happened to be along the scrape next to the fence in the site photo. The Rosse was on top of a root and the wheat was out in the open by its lonesome. I came out with a 1974 Roosevelt dime and a 1956 wheatear penny.

Photo's numner 8, 9, 10 and 11 show how sometimes silver changes color after being exposed to oxygen. This coin was just under the surface on top of what was a deep root, and when I picked it up it started to darken up. I noticed that it still had a little dirt stuck to the reverse, so I took the opportunity to document this tarnishing action.

The first of the last three photos depict how the coin looked with the dirt still stuck to the reverse. The second of the three photos shows how it look immediately after I broke the dirt away, note the silver color.

Photo's 8, 9, and 10 shows the tarnishing transformation after 1.00 minute of being exposed to oxygen.'

The last photo shows what I kept.

HH

Good lookin' stuff. That's enough to make those who have unlimited hunting time jealous.

Cool finds, Ant! Interesting post too!

That scrape has me drooling. ;D

Interesting tarnishing action. I didn't think it would happen so fast.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks again everybody.

Thanks Paul.

The tarnishing action happens very fast. So fast as a matter of fact that one can’t help but notice this change. You can turn away from what amperes to be a shinny silver coin, and then when you turn to look back it's not shinny anymore.

The same dime in photo #7 shows how the dime looked after it was exposed to oxygen in the time it took me to set up my camera. The color has already started to change in that photo.

Now take a look at it in photo #12 (the last photo or group shot), it shows how much color has changed occurred after about 30 minutes.

Wow that is a huge change. A lot of times as a viewer of a photo we can never be certain of some color differences due to lighting changes, angles, etc.
