Man, it's been a WHILE since I found much worth posting. With work and some knee issues I haven't been getting out as much as I want and the conditions now, post beach replenishment, haven't been the best. I apologize for not commenting on anyone else's posts recently with being so busy and just a general funk..you know how it goes, ups and downs man!
Conditions at the oceanfront sucked, to put it mildly...lol. Fresh new sand blown up by the glancing blow from last hurricane and then winds in the wrong direction have compounded the problems. There have been a few decent finds popping up as well as some nice colonial buttons from the dredging but few and far between. Bay has been a bit better but again, hit or miss. Last night was a hit!
After only about 2 blocks I couldn't take it, the sand was so loose and soft you would just sink to your ankles and it was from top of slope all the way to bottom. Moved to the bay and wasn't finding much more than bottle caps, some clad and greymatter. Ran into a couple out doing some late night fishing (around 0030 and low was 0300) And after some talk and good natured complaining on my part about what I WASN"T finding, I moved on and 10 steps away got a nice solid "9" on the Equinox. Figured I was in for some more small aluminum and was very happy it wasn't! I started to laugh and the girl walked over to see what I found and was all excited for me, maybe even more than I was!
No marks I can see inside, may have worn off. I tested it a couple times and 10K seems to be the number. 18K comes right off and 14K lingers a bit and then goes but 10K holds strong. 3.3 grams. Think my last gold ring was around May! Gold ring #13 for the year on the 13th!
Good luck all! Hope you are getting good stuff!
