Sounds like you are on the right track. Many LRL's will pickup signals form precious metals, and too often other metals as well. More often than not, the distinguishing features that separate the top ones from the others are their discrimination abilities. When perfected(real world), they should only detect a significant amount of whichever metal is programmed or witnessed, although some have the capability of detecting more than one metal/mineral art a time. Congratulations!!! Sounds like you are finally tuned into the pulse of the planet. As an exercise, clear your mind, hold out your left hand pointed toward the sky, and see if you can feel the positive energy from the aether. If not, then turn slowly around until you can feel it. Follow that path toward the positive energy and soon you will become aware of its presence and which way is needed to embrace it.
