low signal through head set. garrett 1500

Are you using mono or stereo hdphones? The wroung hdsets will decrease volume greatly.Make sure they are compatible to the detector.

Do you mean faint signals or low tones. A good set of headphones can help you hear the weaker signals

Typing in capitals is like Yelling. Use lower case.

the Garrett 1500 uses that belltone that is either on or off. there really isn't such a thing as a whisper on a 1500 or a 2500. (unless you are hunting in a true all metal mode on the 2500). on the 1500 a whisper will sound more like a broken or "iffy" tone than a whisper. in other words, on a really deep signal, the belltone wont get fainter in volume. it will just sound kind of broken. you see, the signal the machine sees has to be strong enough to trigger that bell tone and when a deepie is almost out of range, instead of the belltone sounding nice and clear it will sound short and "iffy" ...but repeatable.(same goes for an Ace 250 as well) hope this helps. :) oh..........and another thing, for deep targets, dont believe what the size feature is telling you. it will lie every time on a deep target. you just have to dig it to find out.

Also make sure to be using 8 Ohm headphones. I was using Killer B Rattler phones, 150 Ohm, but when I ordered Garrett's 8 Ohm headphones, did hear more signals.

I USE GARRETT'S 8 OHM. THANKS FOR INFRO.

You will hear none as the GTI's have "faint target audio boost". All signals, shallow or deep, sound the same.

I've been using my GTI 1500 for almost a year. The depth of items I dig are generally no deeper than 4"-5" max. Yes, my detector has been back to Garrett for rework and it didn't help with the depth. I've been very disappointed with that since day 1. I love some of the features, but the depth kills me. Actually, my daughter with her ace250 will find deeper items in the area I just covered.
