I found this on Sunday in a farm field. It appears to be made of brass or a similar metal as it hit in the 76 - 79 range.

It looks like a horseshoe, hearts and a wishbone to me? :icon_scratch:
Would someone be kind enough to tell me what the cypher means and when it might date from?

Thanks,
David

UPDATE

I dentified as a 'Good Luck Watch Fob!
Thanks to village nut for his assistance!

Cool find!

I've looked at it under a 10x loop and there's no writing on it at all.
I too looked online for something similar, but with no luck. :dontknow:

Thanks,
Dave

Interesting that you had no luck in finding anything out about it, because I think it is a good luck charm or type of fob design using the heart, horseshoe and wishbone. They often times included the four leaf clover as well. The date from what I have seen would be as early as the 1920's according to this newspaper article....cool find.

Probably just a decorative watch fob, but strange the maker didn't mark it... but I have one with a hunting scene that is blank.... so it happens.

Now that was a very interesting read VN, I never thought it might be a 'Good Luck Charm'! :icon_scratch:

Funny thing... Anita Gold wrote the article for the 'Knight News Service' and 'Knight' is my last name! :laughing7:

Thanks very much for solving this mystery for me!
Dave

Anything on the reverse?
It may be in very small print.
Don..

Hi Don! :hello:

No not a thing on the reverse side, it just looks like a piece of stamped brass.
Thanks for your interest,
Dave

I think so as well... although a 'Good Luck Charm' seems more likely as suggested by 'villagenut'! :icon_thumright:

By the way, nice finds today I.P.!

Would it be a good luck charm with the horse shoe upside down. All the luck is supposed to run out that way.

And it can't be both? A good luck charm that is a watch fob?

I think this is exactly what this is!

I've always heard that said as well dug, that the horseshoe points up! :laughing7:
Thanks for your post,
