Hello All. I found this yesterday at an 1880's house. I can't find quite the same one on the net. Any idea on this thing's age? Civil War? Thanks for the view and good luck. C9

Under that name, Pettibone Mfg co started in 1884. It shows your backmark being on LA15 in Alberts book. The RV on it is only a 1. The firm lasted until 1975, but they did not make buttons. I can't tie yours down any better. Maybe CBG will stop by and help us out a bit further.

Thanks duggap for the info. I was hoping for Civil War era but on closer inspection what I thought was "NO" for New Orleans on the back may actually be "CIN" for Cincinnati making it post Civil War.
