Under that name, Pettibone Mfg co started in 1884. It shows your backmark being on LA15 in Alberts book. The RV on it is only a 1. The firm lasted until 1975, but they did not make buttons. I can't tie yours down any better. Maybe CBG will stop by and help us out a bit further.

Thanks duggap for the info. I was hoping for Civil War era but on closer inspection what I thought was "NO" for New Orleans on the back may actually be "CIN" for Cincinnati making it post Civil War.
