Lotta Diggin' on Saturday (Party Time, 50th for 2009!)
Here's my finds from Saturday. I got my first Merc RIGHT after my Dad dug his, about 15 feet from him in the morning. Second Merc came at the end of the day from a spot we've been hunting several times now. The 1920 merc has full split bands on the back too... figured I would just state it instead of editing another picture just for that. Oh yeah, the 1920 just happens to also be my 50th silver coin for the year. I can't believe I hit my initial goal of 50, because it doesn't feel like I've been hunting much this year. My new goal was actually established back when I was at 30 or so, and I said I should be able to hit 100 this year. We'll see about that
The indians were so cool to hear, and dig up. When you get that signal, it's not always an indian, but when you are right it feels cool. My 3rd IH came out of a hole that I had targeted as a wheatie, and after retrieving the wheat I probed the hole and found another coin off to the bottom right edge of the hole. I doubt I would have found that IH without digging a deep hole first - well maybe, but it was a nice surprise. When I got that one, my Dad was trying really hard to find an IH and here I get one by accident. After that, every semi-close IH signal I found I was giving over to my Dad.
Among the 22 wheaties... there's a 1911, three 1919, a 1918, and a bunch of 20's, 30's, some 40's and 50's.
Play money came from a cool area that had the sod ripped off. It's nice not having to bust up the sod.
The tax token is really cool, and kind of came up like a wheatie. Shouldn't be too hard to get one if you get your coil over it, for those of you who may not have one. I through a penny in there for size comparison.
I think the blank coin is another play money, maybe it was printed on and not embossed. It's thin and almost the same size as the other one.
That's all for now... I'm keeping busy. Hopefully I will take a vacation soon and do some beach detecting in the early morning or something. I've been wanting to go to Hawaii... that would be awexome.
Hope you guys are soaking up all of the warm weather detecting you can stand... it's already starting to feel like Fall time to me. I saw a couple trees today out in the quad cities that were completely color changed. HH!
