I got permission last weekend to hunt some virgin farm fields just down the road from me. They're adjacent to a creek and an old mill. There's a pond there too that I guess used to have a suspended bridge across it about 150 years ago for locals to get to and from the mill house. I took a ride around with the owner and he pointed out a few sites where they have found arrowheads while harvesting hay (it's all been cut now) and also pointed out where a "massacre of some kind or something bad anyway" happened around the time of the Civil War so I'm not sure what all that entails.

Regardless, it's probably a good 100 acres or so and I'll have my work cut out for me if it doesn't rain too much this weekend. To my knowledge there was never a building on the land. I'm assuming I'll probably try to focus most of my attention on the creek side of the field, specifically where the bridge came across the pond there. Can't wait!

Could produce some nice finds for you.Good luck.

Sounds like some nice soil to hunt, I love the history of places like that. Hope you're able to pull up some good relics and shine some light on what happened there.

Ended up with an early-mid 1800's RW Robinsons Extra button near a house foundation I didn't know was there until this morning. The fields were a total bust, however.... Going back tomorrow to focus on the house foundation again.

Glad you found a button at least and better luck tomorrow.
