I always ask if people have old coins. Last Saturday a lady brought out a small velvet bag full of foreign coins. I took a peek and recognised a few so I offered $2 and she gladly accepted.
Last night I fineally got around to sorting out the coins into 3 piles: US, Japanese and ?middel eastern?
there was a total of 40¢ US so the coins cost me $1.60 but here is where is get good there was 2650¥ Japanese Yen (= $34.46 US) not a bad exchange.
I am lucky to find 100 ¥ every few weeks. I actually find more yen than mexican pesos and I am less than 100 miles from the border.
Why do I look for yen you are probably asking?
My wife is Japanese and visits her family all the time. She is over there now but she will have to wait till she gets back to get these. I am not going to mail them. They are heavy.
