Try here, but it probably would help to see a photo of the ring.

i think you're off by a few feet, Red. =P

Jim dowsing is no big secret, just take a metal coat hanger make a L-Rod, go to my spot get on west are north side of the lost ring, any thing that buried only on these 2 sides, as for natural gold that same rod will hit n, s, e, w it does not matter, no magnetic field. Good luck May God Bless.

Thanks! I know sometimes we need to come at the spot from different directions because what happens is more like edge hit for the area. If you go a direction, then mark it. Come back opposite direction, there will be a gap between the 2 hits. By checking either from above going down or up from below you get a triangle. Center of triangle should be target location. Often though, we get in a hurry and don't take the time to do that (unless real important).

Even the photos taken on site, seem to require a certain amount of triangulation to hit the right spot.

Red D... I dont see any need to be any more accurate than you were!!! TO PUT SOMEONE WITH IN 20-- 25 FEET of a lost ring is great!!
If it wasnt for covid I would have tried to find the ring my self. knowing the area I would have started at your mark and worked towards the house as that was the area that the person frequented most.

Oh, that doesn't sound too far away, hard to judge distance sometimes looking at a map.
