Hi,

I got caught in a Rip-tide between Ballys & Atlantic Palace. There is rock jeti and had to let the scoop go to siwm to it.
I was standing in waist deep water and next thing I know I'm being pulled straight out. Feet still on the ground being pulled through the sand. I tried to use the scopp to get a hold but it didn't help. Very strong and weird feeling
Was a first for me, hope its the last

If anyone happens apon a T-rex scoop in AC please let me know.
Just picked it up yesterday, first time out with it
Thanks
Jon

Hi Jon, I have to apologize .... You requested to join the Jersey Shore beach and surf hunters and I deleted you by mistake , feel free to request again .... We already got the word out about your scoop.....Brian Mayer

This is why you should wear a PFD while hunting in the surf, especially this time of year. The inflatable ones are fairly comfortable and don't get in the way or limit mobility. You can find them at surf fishing supply stores. Good ones have a gas release cartridge and a back-up mouth inflation system. Glad you made it out alive, a scoop is a minor loss compared to what have could happened!!

Life saving advice!! :icon_thumright:

The PFD (I use a vest type) should be designed so your head is kept above water when the PFD activated.
If you want to remain stealthy, or are afraid of sharks choose a neutral to dark color: Dark blue, Grey, Brown, Olive Drab, etc.
You can carry flare, metal mirror, whistle if you need to be rescued - or buy a bright vest for high visibility (I like dull colors)
such as Yum Yum Yellow, and Oh Boy Orange, or Bloody red where you need to get out of the water fast to avoid hypothermia (which is the
most likely danger) from setting in.
