Lost More Than I Found

Well, the day yesterday was so blustery that had a hard time staying upright but when ya got the "bug" you do it anyway. The wind was so strong that the only thing keeping my hat on was the headphones. I found an old rusted out pocket knife that is only held together with the rust, a lid with a name on it, and the sorry remains of a pocket watch. But somewhere in a 3 block long and 150 yard wide area is my cell phone. :-[
Tried to find it last night and this morning but no luck. But they're sending a replacement so not too bad. Just have to remember all my addresses and #'s. :'(

Borrow someone else's cell...and go call yourself and look for the ringing phone....you might just find it that way...unless it was turned off.

Wyatt, tried that with the wife's phone. It's right next to a refinery so the noise is pretty bad. The wind blowing at 30-35 mph through the trees doesn't help either. Looked for the face glow but may be face down. !/2 the ring is in vibrate mode and the battery only had 2 bars left. :'(

Oh well......at least you're getting a new one. I should have figured you'd be smart enough to try what I'd suggested....but sometimes folks get panicky and don't think things through. It happens to me sometimes.

Good example? I got my dump truck stuck.....buried to the axle....called a neighbor to help me get it out, and he proceeded to absolutely destory the clutch and pressure plate.

After he left....I parked my backhoe sideways in front of the truck....got a chain block....and pulled the truck out by myself. Had I thought it through carefully...I'd have saved a bunch of time and money.

So that was the ringing I heard up hear in Kansas. I thought it was all in my head. Sorry about the loss.

This has a familier ring to it. (pun intended) Sounds like one of my past adventures.
Hope you find it. Good luck HH

Hey Stoney

I just thought about it. And please, nothing meant by this. Cynical or otherwise.
But I put Good Luck, with out thinking about it, on my above response to your post.
I wonder if I should have put ; Good, chance based upon probability, with it.

What's your thoughts? HH

LOL RV. I'd say that random chance wasn't working in my favor this time.? ;) Guess if ya carry somethig around long enough, you're bound to lose or misplace it at some point. HH
IDburdie, not to worry. I tink I still have your # handy. Providing the weather cooperates-see ya Sun.

Congrats on your finds Stoney......

;)

Sorry about your cell, Lost my set of key last week in the woods, Always keep a spare in my pocket. I hope Trk5capt and I locate them this weekend, HH Art...

Well, look at it this way.....If people never lost anything we'd never find anything! Hope you find your phone though. If you look for it any more also keep and eye out for about a thousand pairs of glasses I have misplaced over the last few years! That's my weakness, losing glasses! Monty

I'm sorry for your loss, but I've got to say that it makes me feel a tad better... I lost a cell phone while detecting, too. But, I was at the beach and I'd been digging this hole at the water's edge and when the ocean rushed in and I reached down... my phone dropped out of my shirt pocket and went Ker-Plunk! I learned that cell phones don't do well once they've been submerged. I also discovered that I hadn't transferred my phone numbers properly, so even though I had retained the SIMS card, it wouldn't help me recover my lost information if I put it in a replacement phone. Bummer. And I shouldn't have had the danged thing in my shirt pocket to begin with! Oh well - another lesson(s) learned!

Got my replacement yesterday as well as my new bill. I can look at the #'s called and get them back in this one. I just have to remember who's who. I'm also investing some clads into a new holster that is a lot more secure. Thanks guys.
