Hey all,

I'm a bit lost. I don't know what this is, but it looks like it has enough features to be something you all would be able to ID. Oddly, it appears to have some kind of paper on the back of it, which I have no idea if it automatically dismisses something with age. It's just one of those annoying things that I can't figure out, and I can't put down without knowing, lol. I appreciate any help you can offer.

I found this in an old park that dates back to revolutionary war times. It wasn't a park back in the day, but is now. It was found in Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

Thanks all. I appreciate everybody's kindness on this forum.

A button with the back missing? I have one navy button with a similar paper-like stuff on the back. I'll get a picture for you if i find it.

E: Found it. This one is from 1920's. I guess yours could be earlier.

Wow that would be cool if it was! I never really had the pleasure of finding anything old yet, so this would be great if it could be confirmed somehow.

Is the "Y" shaped piece made into the disc or is it added so the button(?) would slip over something. I think that it may be the back and the paper like substance is the front and may have been a picture or slogan at one time. You would slip it over your lapel or collar.

The "Y" shape is built in to the disc. That's a really great observation, I never thought about it being possibly worn that way. I recall, when I dug it up, there was a little bit of crumbled pearlish-white stone or ceramic (probably about the same size as the disc). I feel like it was once built in to it. I also believe that the "Y" shape is the back. Could this be old? For a moment I thought it could have been a revolutionary war button, but I doubted it when I recalled the crumbled white stone/ceramic/whatever it was. I would love to keep hearing everybody's thoughts! Thanks everyone.

Reiska,

thank you for finding that! It made me feel better about the paper lol. That gives me hope that this may in fact be an old button, which would be a first for me!

The "Y" puzzles me but I think you have the back to a button and the front is missing. Reiska has a front pictured in his reply.

this is both exciting and mind puzzling, lol. Have you (or anyone) ever seen the back of a button like this? If so, do you think it is old, or even better, a revolutionary war-type button? It has that old, green color!

thank you to the both of you for your helpful responses. It could be either one of those three! Would you think its pretty old (like 1800s) or is there no way to really know?

My eyes see the end of a battery, or the cam inside of an electrical switch.
