Lost Gold Mine of the Yellowstone
This is the Lost Weaver Lode. The year 1866 in Emigrant Gulch David Weaver and other prospectors found what is believed to be the source of the gold found in this region, somewhere near Yellowstone City. With hostile Indians and winter approaching they left the area, but did not return for another 2 years. Once back they failed to relocate the site of their discovery. Weaver ended up being the last of the survivors and in 1921 lived back in Pennsylvania, some ore samples he had kept assayed as high as $5,000 a ton.
As I find more of my material I will add to each story. Cleaning storage devices.
