Found near an early house site and down the steep hill where dumping done years ago. Has flower design and is cast iron. Has an attachment now bent with adjustable screw. Looks familiar but cannot zero in on its use. Any ideas much appreciated.

Likely the base for a garden urn.

Here's one I got at a yard sale a few years ago . I think it's a candle holder .

Same idea, but, with a smaller diameter and shorter rod, I think lamp is more likely.

spike.jpglooks like a receipt holder. it would have had a long slender point coming up from the center. used for putting the day's notes or receipts on.

I agree with the lamp base idea . 36cuope's looks heavier , which you want on an oil lamp .
