Well it looks like the detecting season is over for a while here in the Northwest Ohio. The ground is frozen some snow on the ground and the lake and ponds is starting to freeze over also. Took out the batteries on the detectors and put them to bed. Can not wait until March comes around to see if I can wake them up and put them back to work. For all of you guys/gals that can still detect good luck and may the gold and silver gods be with you......Matt

Yeah, here in Pennsylvania I think it's over too.
My pool had ice on the cover yesterday and today and it was in the upper 30's with a breeze lately.
Not, that I dont like going out alot as it's great exercise and such fun, but I really dont feel
the drive in the cold weather. I think I will sit it out and read--work some extra, and wait for Spring.

That is unless we get a nice warm day! ;D

Here in Illinois we are getting close,But they are calling for the 40's this week. We well see. Dan

guys we need to convince Punxy Phil into predicting 6 more weeks of winter & it will end sooner than we think

Strange, my season is just starting here in central Pennsylvania. Now that deer season is over, I feel safer going out in the woods looking for old homesteads. It never got above 34 here today but was a very enjoyable 5 hours out digging. It hasn't been cold enough to freeze the ground solid.

It got to a chilly 68 this morning and up to a nice 78 this afternoon. We don't have near the history you have up north but weather is rarely a factor. To find a 1800's coin in central Florida is a miracle but when we are able to pull it off we're usually in shorts and a tee shirt.

I spent about 4 hours digging today managed 1 Wheaties and about 4 dollars in clad but it sure was nice being out because I know it's not going to be long and it will be frozen, but I will be at it again tomorrow :laughing9:

Back when I lived in MA i had a friend that would mark the good targets, then go back with a propane torch to thaw the area and dig the target. Believe it or not she was quite successful. I'm not quite so hardcore myself, although we don't see frost anymore either!

Thankfully the ground here in Oklahoma is not yet frozen. I went Saturday for a few hours and again yesterday for a couple of hours while it was raining a bit. Found some clad AND PULLTABS, along with a Senior necklace with the Graduate 1984 pendant lost by someone from Enid High School. Not bad...

Heck guys.

Here in Florida we're just getting started! ;D ;D ;D

I will start CRHing here next month I alway run short on cash in Dec. So maybe the silver will start showing up again next year. Good luck to all of you that still can get out. I hope the gold and silver gods are with you every day....Matt

Got up 2AM was 15 Degrees f.
28 f Now.

40's the rest of the week with Maybe 50 Thursday with rain,

then cooldown for the weekend.

so far not real bad but believe unless
a week of sun & 50's gets predicted soon,
I'm not going to pull out my Detector & Charge
the batteries this year any more :(

Come-on everyone, start driving Gas Guzzlers,
Burning rubber, Spraying Hairspray, whatever you can.

Need some Real Global warming for once

Went out today, took the day off. I couln't see too good. I couln't see may ass going to work. Mid forties, sunny, very unusual weather lately, especially for Northern NY. Found excellent 64 nickel, rust red 68 dime, two new clad quarters and a big bunch of pull tabs. I should have went to work.

No Gleaner, you did the right thing! Feel great about your decision! What's done is done and ya can't do anything about it now anyway.  I went to work and would've rather been out finding new stuff! Be glad....who knows what kind of BS you dodged today by not being there?!?!? Cheers to ya!
