I believe that's the plunger from a re-usable glass syringe. A flexible grommet fits over the end to create a seal in the syringe barrel chamber.

I dug around the net a bit and found some plungers identical . Great job RedCoat. This one is solved.

Garscale, do you use your mechanical screening device on house sites too? I've wondered about that. I sure could use something like that. It might beat detecting. Gary
