Looks gold but is stamped 925

I'm having trouble to get the camera to work.

The ring appears the same color as the typical 14K gold rings that I've pulled from the ground after cleaning. I held a 14K gold ring next to it and they appear the same color! However, it is stamped 925 on the inside. I'm confused!

Can 925 mean anything other than sterling silver?

Also, I forgot to mention. The ring seems very heavy and seems pretty strong. The band at the bottom isn't connected and I seem to have a hard time trying to bend it at all.

If it is stamped 925 then you can bet it is sterling silver and not gold but as MD said, it could be plated.

sterling silver with a thin gold over plate -- 925 EP means a thin gold electro plated sterling silver item --- very commonly done.

I'm trying to get pics. I'm looking at this odd ring and it is colored almost exactly the same as a gold ring would be.

The strange thing is that the inside is stamped with a 925...I thought that a 925 mark meant it was sterling silver? Can sterling appear to be gold?
Hi...925 is 9 carat Gold

I don't believe that's correct. 24K gold is pure gold, therefore 18K can sometimes be identified as .750, 14K as .583 and 10K as .416.

Every 925 I've ever seen is .925 silver (sterling silver).

I have a gold colored egyptian revival necklace marked 925 italy. Took it to a jeweler and he said it was heavy gold plate over sterling silver.
