End piece of crossbar ? 1 at each end of wooden bar bent for attachment of chains?

Possibly the center mounted hook off a fairly light weight evener.

Forged hook ? Yep . Purpose I can't fathom . Too light for heavy work and too heavy for light work .
One WAG Is hook at end of shoulder yoke for carrieing 2 buckets of water at one time .

It's possible that this was a piece which was never completed for some reason. The length of the hook, the lack of wear on any part of the hook, etc. seem unusual for a completed piece.

This wrought iron forge welded loop is a
Scythe handle. There are two of these handles
on a scythe. They slide over the long shaft
and a wooden handle is then driven onto
the spike end. This one looks like its been
bent or damaged, maybe a plow hit it the
ground. The handle on the scythe is called
a nib.

Don't think I'd go with that . Spent a lot of time on the stupid end of straight single handled ,
curved two handled sythes and the real mankiller : the grain cradle under the direction of my grandfather . Still have them all and don't see this as part of one of them .

I agree! I think you are correct.

I typed this same thought earlier but figured nobody would agree so I just never posted it... LOL

The symmetry of the bend of the hook looks too classic to be random plow damage and the loop is too thick to have been tightened on a handle by the force of a fitted handgrip being swaged into place .
