Benz & A.C. are right as far as it being a buckle. Judging by the sharpness of the 3 prongs and size, I think it is a ladies Victorian belt buckle. I've seen several of these buckles, and every time I look at the sharp prongs, I'm glad it's not on my waist! I'd hate to sneeze and have to have surgery to remove a buckle! The pics below are a fancier version of yours. Neat find, Breezie
