Detector(s) used
Nox 800, Etrac, F75, AT Pro. Last two for sale.
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
Dad got me treasure hunting years ago. Never used a detector, but always good at finding stuff. Im recovering from a shoulder injury and this sounds like just what I need to strengthen my arm, and loose some recently gained pounds.

After a bit of research I would like to start with coin hunting locally, till I develope some skills. As for gold nuggets, got some pretty good ideas where if any can be found. One goal is to my list of 500 is to find a vien.......gotta have goals.

I do not kno the rules as to private property, BLM land....ect. So someone or local group would have to school me.

I dont have a detector yet. If you have one you can let go cheap great. If not I will save up till I get what I want.

Im 40+, ex military, happily married, and a hillbilly. I used to live where west virginia, kentucky, and ohio meets. I would love to plan a fishing/camping/meterorite hunt if there is any schedualed hunt near the las cruces area.

welcome and good luck, some old railroad sites this way but ground is freezing now.

Welcome to T'net - just a word of warning, "Beware of the addiction!" This MD'ing can certainly get in your blood. You should feel right at home here. Lots of us vets around, lots of us in the 40+ group, etc.

Did I notice that you're in the Las Cruces area? Quite a few ghost towns between you and Artesia (up north a ways). I've done a little hunting in some of those areas while visiting grandkids in Artesia. Didn't find any real treasure. Just a few relics of a bygone day!

If you have any specific questions, this forum is the place to get good answers.

Yeah, you won't end up where you think you will (rich, maybe). But you will be richer in knowledge and enjoyment.

Browse the pages here; there's lots of material and lots of good folks. :icon_sunny:

Well this answer is for HooDooDave also. I see I havent posted since 2010 when I originally got hurt. I own more than 3 metal detectors now. Still havent found a meteroite, but lots of old trails in my own backyard. Just a bunch of empty holes so far. My favorite Detector is my F75, the std one. Its stupid deep, and really good discriminating.

I so far can find no one to share my interest in detecting, prospecting, or treasure hunting.

Thanks for the input, and welcome guys.
