Looking For Some Info Please!

Looking for some help with this dive helment I found In a old Barn!How rare is it? What's it worth?(I know only what someone is willing to pay )Should I give it a paint job and try to fix it up or leave as is, may be a better question?I'm thinking it is a type 2 but not that familiar with them.

Thanks Mo, Good site and is the only one I can find that talks about the type 2 helment.I just got off the phone with a guy that knows a little seems these Type 1 and 2 are more rare then the three.

There are a couple of old timers at www.divingmuseum.org who can give you an idea of what your helmet is worth and how to restore it. Don't miss their place in Islamorada if you ever get to the Florida Keys.

As a personal opinion, I would leave the helmet in its as-is-condition...

It's like someone refinishing an antique chair to where the wood looks new...its now a new chair and has lost its patina and character.

By the way, I've seen similar helmets in ship's chanderlies and museums...nice historic item

Thanks IronSpike,Yea wouldn't want to be underwater with this thing on my head knowing it was up to the guy top side to keep me breathing.I think the helment it self would be freaky enough.
