Western Kentucky
Hello fellow artifact hunters, My family and I have reciently moved from Western Kentucky (Hancock County) to Western Pennsylvania (Allegheny County). When I was living in KY. I had many places, Ohio River, 5 or 6 local creeks, & some tobacco fields to go hunt for things. My problem is I have no idea where to go here in PA. I was hoping youall could maybe point me in the direction of some places to look in this part of PA. (Pittsburgh and surounding counties)

I appreciate any help I could get cause I am feeling the need to get out & look............

Thanks and Regards............Kypakrat

There are some in here from PA. When you look most of the artifacts will be quartz or slate. I would look for quartz out crops and start there in the area.

Southeastern pa is alot of quartz and some slate. North and west you will get some but have flint chert and jasper as well. Even mid pa produces more flint than quartz. Start asking farmers and checkin creeks. Also look into the history I the area. Sorry but I'm only familiar with south eastern pa.
