I actually used THESE......

...To look for places to hunt back in 1993-1996. I used to operate and was an instructor for these Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) at Ft Huachuca, AZ. The first one is a Hunter UAV powered by 2 750cc Moto Guzzi engines fore and aft. The second is an older system, The Pioneer UAV powered by a rear-mounted Sachs 350cc 2-stroke. Both carry TV and thermal optical sensors. I used to look for old ranch foundations around our flight areas and then go out in my mighty 1970 Kaiser DJ5 Postal Jeep and detect them. They were also good for spotting deer and antelope (and Illegal Immigrants!) The 3rd pic is the control station for the Pioneer UAV. The pilot sits on the right and the payload (camera) operator sits on the left. The last pic was taken by a Pioneer UAV right at the start of Desert Storm in 1991. Someone on the ground spelled out "FREE KUWAIT" with 55-gallon oil drums.
