hello everyone,i bought this old clock at a yard sale and the man said it is as old as the civil war, what do you think, thank you oh i paid one dollar for it. 001.webp002.webp

Its called a mantel clock. I don't know much about it but the key is worth the dollar you paid for all of it.

I would take it to a local clock repairman to get some info on it.. good job on the clock..

I'm thinking the works look like New Haven maybe.

What I want to know is if he thought it was civil war period why we sold it for a buck! either way you made out good, it's definitely worth more than that. I've seen people pay $3 for the keys

Only problem I see, is getting it repaired if it does not work.
Otherwise cool find and makes a great conversation piece at the very least.
Keep @ it and HH !!

thanks everyone for your thoughts,i just do not know clocks.why someone would sell something so cheap at a yard sale ill never know,we all have just too much stuff here in the good ole usa i guess.this man was selling his parents stuff after they past on,probally just wanting to get it out of the house so he could sell it,i see this all the time i have bought all kinds of stuff for pennys.i have tons of memories in boxes, just not mine, but i soon realize the mans things i buy was a way better person than the man who sold it too me.

My guess is a Sessions mantel clock. It is called a tambour style, but also called camel back or napoleon hat clock. It is missing a bell chime. If it is a Sessions, the name should be on the front of the movement. If it is a Sessions clock, it can't be any older than 1903.
