Hi all! I am brand new to this hobby. I purchased a metal detector and have gone out once or twice this week. Looking for some helpful suggestions on places to try out. If there is anyone from Luzerne County, PA that can advise of some good places I would appreciate it. Any help from anyone will be appreciated. It seems this can be a fun hobby. I'm retired and just looking to pass some hours away.
Thanks in advance. :D

hi pascotsman! for general coinshooting for clad and occasional jewelry try your local public school grounds. go around the ballfields, swingsets, anywhere the kids hang out. they drop tons of coins.also check where the buses drop the kids off,i have found a lot of clad in those spots. usually you don't need to obtain permission to hunt public schools (private schools are another story).also local parks can be good. just remember most state parks at least require permission and federal parks are off limits period. if you are not sure if it is OK to hunt a local park ask your local department of recreation. as far as old coins and relics go (even though i have not found any) the general consensus here on the forum seems to be construction sites, private yards and especially sidewalk tear ups. some of the members here have had spectacular luck hunting old sidewalks that were being repaved.any time you are planning to hunt private property get permission first. hope this helps a little and good luck!
