After I took off for work today, my Father-in-law decided to try out the wife's new MD out in the front yard. I am fairly certain this is a button but can't seem to place an age on it. It was my understanding most buttons pre to early 1800 were flat but the size seems to be right for that era. It is bent back (towards shank side) a little and doesn't stand out as far as the images appear. It is my understanding though that flatter buttons with no stamping on backs are usually colonial/1700s period. Any help in putting a finger on the date range or even point me in the right direction if I am entirely wrong would be greatly appreciated.

Hello
Definatley a button, looks mid to late 18th / possibly early 19th Century, may have been coated with silver plate or similar. In the UK known as "dandy buttons" due to the brightness. Nice find.
