Ace 250
I'm thinking I could use a pinpointer.

I have checked a few reviews online, and I would kind of like to buy the white's bullseye...but don't know if I can justify $100 for a pinpointer. I've done ok w/out one.

I know not to even bother with the $60 piece of junk from Bounty Hunter (unless someone can tell me otherwise from their experience).

Any ideas on getting one a bit cheaper than the $110-$120? I'm not set on brand--I just want one that works.

My Vibra Probe has been fantastic. I think I paid $80 on E-bay.

I use an Envader Sun Ray XL-1 on my Whites Spectrum. I've used a detector for over 30 years without one, but since I got this, I wouldn't go without it. It really does make detecting easier and quicker. You can get them on Ebay for around $100.00.

I've recently purchased a White's Bullseye II that I'd be willing to sell you at a discount. I haven't really got into the habit of using it, so it sits in the back of my trunk. PM me if interested...

i have a whites bullseyeII.....and its gotten me out of a few miscues on my plugs that were off a little....then i use my knife and gently pick away at the dirt to find what i didnt pinpoint in the first place with my ace 250...lol

The "JUNK" bounty hunter/teknetics/ fisher is more bang for the buck than most!!! I have one, though not without flaws, works so well I now have two!!! One simple solution to the knob moving is to remove it (just pull straight off like a radio knob) and use a piece of foam or better yet a 1/4 o-ring.. Some tape or a rubber band run from the back over the knob will keep it from coming off in hard use... Seems the foam block that keeps the battery from rattling once compressed for a time forms to the battery and after that the battery cap stays on well.. Since I am very hard on it I wore the tip off the first one!!! I now coat the first 11/2" with 2 ton epoxy and then made a form with a sharpie permanent marker (cut off the small end).. When the first coat was hard I put the form on and then add epoxy to fill it a 1/4" and let dry, cut and remove the form, and being carefull file and sand the end to a point... For around $50 bucks you can't go wrong!! I actually use it to probe UNBROKEN GROUND!!! Doing this will destroy other pinpointers!!!!When I get the target with my detector I shove that bounty hunter/teknetics/ fisher into the ground and see if I can locate the target.. The probe part itself is 4" so 41/2 - 5" about as far as you can get without digging.. Great for popping surface coins..If I was to spend a $100 on a probe it would be the vibraprobe 560...And that is the only one I would consider!!

P.S. First texas replaced the worn one FREE!!

I have a bullseye II and a vibraprobe. I use the vibraprobe all the time. Oh... and it's waterproof. Id send you my bullseye... but my 5 year old daughter has commandeered it as her own personal treasure finder.

I have 2 Bullseye II's and i do not recommend them. Where they do the job...You will be sending it back every few months to have the button replaced. I hear the Vibraprobe is the way to fly.

I just ordered a Wizard Vib Probe from Amazon.com and it was $27.00 + shipping. I didn't want to spend a lot, because I'm not sure of what pinpointers can do yet.

I got a Tinytec a few weeks ago and I like it. I got the Tinytec 8 1/2"
Ultraluxe for 69 bucks because I wanted one that had a vibe feature but they have the Tinytec 6 1/2" Deluxe for 39.95 too.

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. I ended up ordering a tinytec for $44.95. It's the newer model of the $39.95 one that they're phasing out. The email from them said I'd it would ship today, 2-3 day priority.

Going to a family reunion in small town Iowa this weekend. It's held at a 100 year old catholic church where my dad attended school. I'm thinking I might just try it out there.

I'm late, but what else is new? I have a Merlin SXL and a Fisher F-Point. The F-Point (free with my F-75) is what I use most often. I wish it had a momentary switch, but it is small and very handy. My Merlin has better sensitivity and two LED lights (one clolr change target indicator and one to see into the hole) plus an audio alarm and vibration, but is less protected from dust and moisture. I seal the battery lid with hatch tape (as used on R/C boats and float planes).

If you set the 9V into the cap tightly between the tabs (on top of the foam piece) and then press it into the F-Point body it stays put. In fact, I had to use a brass shim to get the tabs to release so I could take the cap off again.

I agree...it works great when the button does not break. If you decide on the White's Bullseys you can usually get a new one on EBay for $70-75s. I have never used a Vibraprobe but the next time the White's breaks I'm getting one. Good luck

the vibraphone doesn't have an on/off switch. you turn it on by holding it vertically (pointer up) for a few seconds. It shuts off automatically after about a minute (maybe a bit more) of no contact/signal with metal.

There are no switches to wear out... mine picks up objects at about 1 1/2 inches. And did i mention that it's waterproof?

steve

and i forgot to add that I've had the same problems with the switch on my bullseye
