Looking for a good relic detector.

Is there a better detector available in the $300 range that is better than the 6000Di series2 that I already have? I'm new to detecting but I know I have a target rich area to hunt. I don't mind digging iron and pop tabs.

You might also try a search for best metal detectors $300 or less. I think if you step up price maybe $80-90 you might get more useful hits. Good luck.

Check ebay and your local craigslist for good used detectors. I got a nice used.Garrett AT PRO for $300 and that was maybe 9 years ago. Occasionally really good deals show up on used machines. These days new mid-price range detectors run in the 500-900 dollar range when new, the top machines will run well over a thousand new. Lots of people upgrade as they go and their good used ones come on the market. If you do facebook also look on FB marketplace, folks sell them there too and sometimes you will find good used machines for sale right here on Tnet. I have several fine detectors all bought used and never had a problem with any of them.

I have heard good things about the Nokta Simplex. Do a search for it and see what you think.

check out a Minelab Vanquish 440 Metal Detector. Might check Kellyco.

Thanks for all of the replies. I think I'll stick with the 600DI for now and when I get more into the swing of things I will upgrade if I feel it isn't working out for me. I don't want to invest much in the hobby yet until I can find a few more areas to detect. For now my own property will keep me busy all of this season and probably most of next. When I get a little more confidence and run out of things to dig I will probably get something newer and step my price up a little.
