Metal Detecting
Waaaay back when I was a young boy I had some Radio Shack cheapo metal detector. I had loads of fun with that little "toy" and actually found some old coins and helped an old and distraught woman find her wedding ring. Not to mention horse shoes, RR spikes, and tons of other "treasures" lol! Well that was about 35 years ago and lots has happened between now and then - I have THREE young kids and I'm 46! I have 5 y.o. twin girls and a 7 year old little boy. They are not much into sports but love finding sharks teeth, snake skins, digging for fossils, tales of pirates, gold, and lost treasures and in general just being outside exploring. Kinda like me lol! We don't even have cable TV (by choice) yes we are weird by many peoples standards haha! But WE know what's GOOD for us ;0) Anyhow I was hoping someone had something half way decent (metal detector that works) laying around they might sacrifice cheap? I'd love to show my kids a fun and new hobby. I really think they'd enjoy it. At 46 it's not that easy being as active as I'd like to be with a herd of little kids! And unfortunately that precious herd cost a lot to maintain lol! Times are tough all over... No pity please - I LOVE life! If we get a sweet deal (I know nothing about decent metal detectors lol) and we do not use it often, or end up not enjoying it as much as I think we may, I will surely pass along the good will or even give it back to the original owner cheaper than I bought it if not free ;0)

Living here in Florida on the "Treasure Coast" the last three years I see the treasure salvors and metal detectors working the beaches. I've recently done some repairs on some treasure hunting boats, and have visited both of the local "treasure" museums... Somewhere along the line I've been bitten by a bug! That same bug bit me about 35 years ago too! I COULD trade some fiberglass or gelcoat work for a decent detector if it's not too complicated or big. I repair fiberglass boats, bathtubs, etc. for a living. We're not looking for charity - I could pay cash too... We just can't break the bank for something decent and I KNOW some of you guys have some halfway decent stuff just totally collecting dust in a closet somewhere that you replaced with the "Goldbuster Deluxe 2013" models lol! I'm just looking to have some fun for my kids and I as cheaply as we can, within reason. As for many these days some months are tough... But things are on much better now than a few years ago...And getting better each day! Still, some cheap recreation is needed this summer besides the usual! Please message me or respond here if you have an offer for a family on a "sometimes" severe budget! I live in SE Palm Bay and will drive a reasonable distance to make an honest transaction and meet good people.

Thanks!

Welcome to Treasurenet! Detecting is a great way to bond with your children. You can get a good new starter unit for $200 + shipped. You can use it to hunt beaches and parks - the coils on some are waterproof, so you can even delve in the shallow water.

Check Craigslist in your area for used units. A used AT Pro will run you $400-500, but its fully waterproof.

Good luck on your search!
