I'm thinking about the Garrett Ace 250 but would love other opinions.? I'm looking for not a cheap one but not an overly expensive one either.? Just something that my kids and I can start with.
I've done a lot of research and have come to the conclusion that the Ace 250 is probably on top in it's price range. Best bang for the buck. Haven't heard many negatives on the machine. I'm actually thinking of getting one for my wife or son so I have someone else to hunt with!
Took a pair of 250 s down to North Myrtle Beach this past week. The Ace 250 is pretty much a turn on and go machine. Super easy to use and has features found on the more expensive machines. My 10 and 12 yr old sons had no problems and were hunting on there own within 15 mins. I took the 250 right down to waters edge and with an adjustment or two had few problems. Found an enameled ring near waters edge at 3 inches, not sure what base metal is but was in silver or dime size range in jewelry mode. We also found about $4 in clad and of course our fair share of trash in the 3hrs at the beach. All but the ring was found in dry sand. The deepest was a correctly identified nickle at about 7 inches. Most targets were in the 2 - 6 inch range. All in all a great day with the kids! The 250 is pretty sensitive so I kept it at 4 near water and 6 or 7 in dry sand. I'm certainly not a beginner at MDing but it's been a while since I've swung one and the 250 let me jump right in with little or no learning curve. Don't think you could go wrong for the money. Steve
I just got started a short time ago.? After a lot of web research and reading, I picked the Ace 250.? I amvery pleased with it and would recommend it highly to anyone looking for a detector in that price range. I don't think you could get a better machine for the money.
It has a lot of handy features and is very easy to use and enjoy.
