Ok so my son and I have been at this for about a year, had a Bounty hunter IV for about 2 months, then in July got an ACE 350 and were more than happy with the machine, it nabbed us about 30 silver coins and at least 6 silver religious medals/pendants. That being said, as it goes with this hobby, I want more, I want to upgrade, My problem is I know garrett products, i guess you can say I "trust" garrett products and am really interested in the AT pro or AT gold, are they basically the same?, can I expect better depth with either of them as opposed to my 350? Like i said before, my 350 has been good to me but I havent been able to snag the older silvers (barbers, seated, standing liberty, etc) and i do realize that if its not in the ground its not in the ground but I do believe some of the spots I hit had goodies just out of my 350's reach, any help would be appreciated, THanks for reading and HH

I had a 250 for 4 years and went with the at pro. It is definitely deeper and in pro mode better amongst the trash. There are very good explanations of the at pro vs gold in the garrett forum. I hope this helps some.

The AT Pro is a good machine for the money. If you want better depth than that go with the Minlab SE Pro -- best bang for the buck. CTX3030 is a nice machine, but SE Pro will go just as deep.

? Whats the MSRP on the SE Pro & the CTX3030? ,if any one knows at this time.

SE pro is about 1150 on kellyco, thats about 450 above what I want to spend. dont get me wrong Id go for Minelab anyday however my wife wouldnt be so thrilled lol

I'm afraid I'm not much help. I like Garrett as well. I upgraded from a Groundhog to an AT-Pro. I did test drive a few before I did but the AT-Pro gave me the widest range of options. That's what made the decision for me.

You'd have to talk with someone who knows all three. The AT-Pro, AT-Gold and the 350 in order to get a cross comparison. Somehow, I just don't really think you'll be getting much deeper between them. I could be very wrong. Just a feeling. What I have found to always be true is that the better one learns their machine, the better it will work. I don't see one year being all that much time.

If I were you, unless someone can tell you verbatim and back it up that one is deeper than another, I'd just work at learning the 350 a bit longer. Most of the experts will tell you to dig EVERYTHING! So, what do you get with all the bells and whistles of a new one? Better discrimination?

Not much help, I know. But maybe a few thoughts to chew on?

Good luck!

HH!

Try Lara at Detector Depot...best deals there on all machines. I think best bang for the buck would be a used SE Pro as many are dumping them for the eTrac and CTX-3030...neither of which goes any deeper than the SE Pro. Some claim the SE is the better of the three. I use one and have an eTrac and CTX-3030 as well.

Best, Erik

You will get a little more depth and greater iron discrimination with the AT series of detectors. The Gold is more sensitive to small gold, but isn't recommended for salt water use. Both will find silver at greater depth. The main difference from the Ace series is the addition of ground balance, digital tthearget ID, proportional and iron audio, higher frequency and waterproof capabilities.

The Ace 350 is a great machine for its price point. We do find that a lot of customers do upgrade to the AT series for the reasons you pointed out.

thanks for the info! Im torn between possibly a minelab SE pro, Fisher F70, or garrett AT pro, i just gotta convince the wife to let me spend more $ on one, i only had a bounty hunter for 3 weeks when i was dying for an upgrade to the ace350 lol

The Minelab SE Pro is a discontinued product, so the new ones will only be available for a short time. Those are all good machines.
