I agree. That doesn't show any evidence of being altered by man. It looks to have been formed by natural weathering and fracturing.

No problem asking but picture is clear enough to tell it is natural random chipping...

I can't say without holding it if it is anything, but put your right thumb in the indention shown on the third picture. Hold the piece with your thumb and trigger finger. Now look at the area that has the chipping. Is it a cutting surface? It looks like it would be a great piece for cutting, but any wear patterns would be seen on the edge in the 1st pic and there aren't any. It's difficult to say an artifact without any sign of use is an artifact.

Funny how it appears only ONE edge is all beat up naturally.

If found on a known site, I would say you have a large scraper or crude cutting tool.

Yes it fits perfectly like that.. What made me think twice about it! The one side is pretty smooth but the other fits perfect to hold!

Where did you find it? I read the previous comments from everyone and I agree with all of them.
I've seen natural stones shaped like this from weathering.
I've also seen authentic NA tools and weapons that look quite similar. If you could find Some information about the area you found the piece in someone can probably

The reason I asked for better pics is the 1 edge looked as iff they tried to make a quick tool but if the edge side was facing up in the mud in a creek where cobbles could only hit the 1 edge then it could be natural but it really depends as to where it was found. I have found some quick and fast tools that most would call UGLY. Then on the other side I have found some that are natural but look like a tool. So I would consider it a toss up if we cant get a clearer picture on the edge work from both sides. Glad you didnt leave and welcome back.
