Welcome from White Plains, New York!

welcome, time to stop lurkin' and start hunting treasures! HH

Thanks all. Been detecting about 20 years in mountains and drift / hardrock mies. Mainly a dredger for 35 years. Only been detecting beaches and parks about 5 years. Can't understand why I waited so long to enroll here. Great thing is I've never stopped learning.

As a fellow dredger(SF Yuba in NorCal) - looking forward to your story (and pics?) Ca70 - welcome aboard! PS - Hmmm, "Ca70"? Quincy area? Feather River?

You're correct, caribou / twain area.

Like to hear your words about destruction resulting from the Chips? fire - heard it was pretty bad. Anything burned at Cariboo Mining claims?

Fullpan, one of our portals ( the nicest ) was completely burned up . Our camp was relatively ok. The portal was destroyed, after three years of hand labor reopening this old mine we'll be forced to start over kinda . We were at the mine the night the fire was spotted over in Chips canyon . The next morning when the guys were headed back down 70 , USFS was sending hand crews up, to get on the fire . 27 days later it burned up our portal.

That is sad thing to see. Of course, right or wrong, I blame all Ca. fires on enviro influence over FS now.

Welcome to tnet. I used to live in yuba city about 7 years ago would go to chico just about every weekend during the spring / summer time

Did you ever visit the Mall in Olivehurst? Kinda ratty lookin. I was in the mountains, dredging, in 1986 when the flood came - it broke thru the levy by
Yuba City/Marysville and water was 12 ft. high in that mall - never recovered.

I do know of the place you're are talking about. Yep it's a dump (was ) . I usually dont stop in Olivehurst much any more. I wait till I drive past Ophir rd in Oroville to get fuel then head up mountain rte 70. I remember the floods fondly. What a mess. Summer of 86, 87, 88 , and 94 96 98 were some of the best dredging years I ever had on the Feather and up at our Spanish creek claim. Is the mall still there even ?

I remember getting a couple grms after the flood by using tweezers, vial, and optivisor on the bedrock. I read an article they can't keep tenants in there these
days. Ps - you haven't lived till you've heard 400 lb boulders rolling merrily downstream:thumbsup:

Yes .. The boulder sound . I love that .Sometimes you can feel the thud in your feet when a big one flips .

The thuds! Another thing nature does to put us in place. See you on the Prospecting Forums!
