could be green enamel on copper? can't figure out logo.Birks and a pin on back. 001 (4).JPG

The logo is the medical symbol, pair of snakes intertwined around the staff with the wings on top, on right are letters, looks to be a T,W,S, from what I can make out.

caduceus... I also see the TWS entangled. S possibly for School.

We really should also have a pic of the back. We may be able to date it by the Birks manufacturers mark or it may give us some more key words to search.

Looks like the caduceus is really a symbol for economy and commerce pre-1902. It does look like a school pin though. I also see TSW.

I think it looks like a Nurse's pin. The letters could also be TSY or TS"V" (Technical School?) I would suggest looking for nursing and medical schools in the area in which you found it. Are you in BC, Canada? Was/is there a medical school in "V" Vancouver? A pic of the back would be helpful too.

Neat find :)

Thanks, Breezie, you got me thinking about region and changing the letters around.

Vancouver Technical School

This is their new temporary site, but it shows their logo Vancouver Technical Secondary School - Welcome!
History Our School History - Vancouver Technical Secondary School

Snoopy, I was hoping if I put the "V" in quotations with the word Vancouver and mentioned Technical Schools it might spark some interest/research in that area. Way to go on finding the logo and the school! :) Breezie

I noted with the limited time I had that the veterinary trade also used a very similar caduceus.sometimes single snake, other times two.I surmised the lettering to be tvs.Having seen several lapel pins(which I believed it to be)with a common logo of vt(2 of 3)I began looking into canadian applications for veterinary technician certification groups.Had to go to work and posted it as a research avenue hoping others would pick up the ball.
Is this acceptable chain of actions?Even tho the research not completed?

thx BCH for advice.
