Found this at an old house place. House dates back to 1860 but the oldest coins I have found only go back to 1917. I'm guessing this was a locket of some sort but not sure. Is it possible that this is an Eastern Star marking on it?

If you mean the Order of the Eastern Star, then no, I don't think there's a connection. This was (and is) just a popular design. It looks to have had a stone in the center, which were most commonly glass or semi-precious stones rather than precious gems.

Wouldn't hurt it much, value wise, to clean it up and check it over for marks. It looks though like it was originally plated, and now down to the base metal.

That does seem to be what it is. Is there any way to tell a time period?
