Locket with hair in it!!!

Dug this today and thought it was just a little metal frame of some kind. I went to poke the dirt out of the middle and noticed there was some broken glass inside. Then I turned it around and saw an intact pane of glass on the other side. Then came the weird part. As I brushed the dirt away, I noticed some fibers tucked into the sides and some poking out. I looked closer and realized it is hair! The only conclusion I can make is that this was a locket with a departed loved one's hair in it. Has anyone ever seen anything like this?

I have actually heard of that before some religious items do something similar it would be called a relic

That's a very cool find. There have been Hair lockets posted up on TN before but if you would like to see an other one in person, there are two shipwreck museums in Ket West, one is Mel Fishers and the other one has the mourning locket or hair locket on display. Here is a picture of it with the explanation card.
