Looks liked a "warded" style pad lock. Ward keys would be pretty simple as opposed to the cut keys you see today which would be for tumbler or wafer locks. Some warded keys have that traditional skeleton key aspect to them, a basic big fat piece on the front of the key that would be put into the lock and the whole key turned the locking mechanism to open. Your lock looks like one of those. It does not appear to have a tumbler inside rather just a simple mechanism.

Do some searching on "warded" padlocks and keys vs. wafer or tumbler styles and you'll see what I'm getting at. I'm be no means an expert on locks at all but hopefully this gets you in the right direction.

Best,
Hunter
