Been searching the web for the manufacturer. Any clues on who made this one?

Hard to nail down a maker, common style lock from the days before patent infringement laws, everybody copied everybody else.

Foster, I'm going with DM&Co. (Davenort Mallory and Co.) 1852-1864 +/-lol 051.jpg

That one is British-made. "WR" stands for "William Rex", KIng William IV of England between 1830-1837. The lock was made during that period.

Love those old smokehouse padlocks. I found out an interesting fact through someone my husband follows on Facebook. He said if the lock cover simply says PATENT and was found in the US that the lock is probably an import com Great Britain because patent offices in the Us weren't formed until after the mid 1800's. Has any else heard this? I like your lock Foster and sorry to hijack the thread.

Im not clear on all the "Patent" lock either. Most of them that have no other markings, names, or dates....but "Patent" do seem to be British.
